commissions

The past three fine art shows have been really slow, nobody is
buying..... Can't close the deal!
The weather in Florida has been really cold this winter, the people
don't come out to the shows......conclusion.....sales down!
This winter I have been squeaking by thanks to commissions. Painting
every day.... Thank God!

Lady Lake Fl.

We've found a new show promoter TNT Events they are really a nice
couple. She is also an artist and understands how much work it is for
us on the circuit. They are very organized easy setup and tear down,
overnight parking for campers, and they advertise and market their
shows well. Got to go and finish tearing down I'll be back!

Sunfest at Westly Chaple Mall

The show went well this weekend. The weather was beautiful on Saturday, sunny and warm. Sunday was really windy. Some of the artist that didn't have heavy duty tents had to tear down and leave. The winds were lifting their tents and damaging there art.
My neighbor had an Easy Up tent, you know what artists that have been doing the circuit a long time say 'easy up.. easy down!' She had to tear down, her jewelry was blowing everywhere. It's worth every extra dollar to get a good tent. I have two Light Dome tents that are really sturdy. You also have to properly weight the tent.
We got back to our motel this morning to be greeted by a huge chicken. It was strutting by our van like she owned the place.
Then a girl came up to Greg while he was trying to park the trailer. She tried to bum a cigarette! No luck!
Then.. here come the police. They were looking for a missing girl. We told them about the girl and cigarette encounter. They showed us a picture of the girl and it looked like the girl we just saw.
Long story short, they went in the motel and did a door to door search and found her!!! Glad we could help!
All in the life of an artist.

Sunfest Fine Art Show

Arrived at show last yesterday about noon check in wasn't until 10:00 .
Setup was this morning @5:00 I got to sleep in Greg setup for me! Great hubby!
the weather has finally warmed up,it's in the high 70's. The show is very
well attended that's a good sign. Good weather tends to bring out the
shoppers! This show is judged and has quite abit of cash prizes. Two
of the three judges have been to my booth. It would be nice to win an
award. I don't do the shows for the awards, but it does look great on
my bio when I do win.
The show circuit can be so fun, so many different characters attend the
shows. They walk by my booth and hopfully into my booth and I just sit and take
all in. I just spotted a she man.......a man all dressed up dress, hose, even
high heels? Really!!!!!! Gotta go I have a costumer. I shall return!

Jensen beach fine art show

Well the weekend is over. What a long show, well attended but people had tight purse strings. Will I attend next year... perhaps.
The show was pretty organized the staff very friendly but the show layout could
have been better. Thank God the weather was good but Sunday I could have done without the high gusts of wind!!!!
So I'm back in Tampa after the three hour drive. Time to paint next commissions .....two 24x36 portraits and a 16x20 pet potrait!!! This is why they call it work.

Fine art show

This weekend I'm going to Jensen Beach FL Fine art show. I can't
wait. I haven't been in a show since Xmas!
I really love doing shows. It makes all of my hard work (and Greg's) my husband, worth it when I actually sell something!
Doing the art circuit is really a lot of work. We drive sometimes hundreds of miles to the show. Then we have setup which could be the day before or early that morning and I mean early......like five in the morning!
Then after setup I sit and wait for that special person who comes into my booth and loves my work. I've learned to be very patient.
After the weekend is over and hopefully a few sales it's time to tear down. Load up the trailer and drive to the next destination. I Love it!!
